So you've found my favorite place on earth!Ghent - or Gent as it's properly called in Flemish - has it all: it's a good mix of medieval history and current day university and high school activities, with enough spirit and soul (left) to cater to the more perceptive tourist.
Less known than Bruges or Brussels it's nevertheless a secret worth sharing (or keeping)...

If you are visiting Gent in the week of July 21st, you either planned it that way, or you're in for a bit of a shock.
Each year around this time we have a 10 day non stop Festival, The Ghent Festivities / Gentse Feesten, with every kind of cultural activity you can imagine and a few not so cultural ones to boot.
