Visit Ghent !

So you've found my favorite place on earth!

Ghent - or Gent as it's properly called in Flemish - has it all: it's a good mix of medieval history and current day university and high school activities, with enough spirit and soul (left) to cater to the more perceptive tourist.

Less known than Bruges or Brussels it's nevertheless a secret worth sharing (or keeping)...

Even the Expats don't seem to have discovered it, yet!

So let me take you on a guided tour, from one link to another.

If you are visiting Gent in the week of July 21st, you either planned it that way, or you're in for a bit of a shock.

Each year around this time we have a 10 day non stop Festival, The Ghent Festivities / Gentse Feesten, with every kind of cultural activity you can imagine and a few not so cultural ones to boot.

Have a peek at this page...

I usually put a full personal calendar on my Flemish page, but here are some pointers ;)

Although the text is in Flemish, you should really visit this site for its quality pictures of Gent ..

Students or researchers at Ghent University staying here from February to June, should really take up Low Countries Studies I can heartily recommend this program!

A gold mine of practical information, is the USE-IT Gent website. But not all of it's in English - yet.

You're welcome to mail me for more info or a choice suggestion! Just spare me spam or chainletters - thanks!
